UNDERSTANDING THE NUMBERS
What sugar is in fruit?
Fruit naturally contains a mixture of sugars, mainly fructose, glucose and sucrose. The proportions differ between fruits and between reference records.
Fructose
A simple sugar found naturally in fruit. The name “fruit sugar” does not mean it is the only sugar in a piece of fruit.
Glucose
Another simple sugar reported in fruit composition data. Its amount can differ from the fructose amount.
Sucrose
A sugar made from glucose and fructose. Some fruit references report much more sucrose than others.
LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE
Fructose, glucose and sucrose in fruits per 100g
All values below are grams per 100g of the described edible fruit. Source records are linked in each row.
“Not reported” is a gap in this record, not zero. The components and total are reported independently; we do not force them to add up.
Is fruit sugar only fructose?
No. The records above report different combinations of fructose, glucose and sucrose. “Fruit sugar” is sometimes used as a name for fructose, but it does not describe all the sugars present in a fruit. Open a fruit reference to see which components that record actually reports.
Does total sugar mean added sugar?
No. The FDA distinguishes total sugars, which include naturally present sugars and any added sugars, from the added-sugars amount. The raw fruit values on this site are reported total sugar; they should not be compared directly with an added-sugar daily limit.

Why are some sugar components missing?
The selected source records do not all report the same components. A missing fructose, glucose or sucrose value does not establish that the food contains none. This table preserves those gaps and does not calculate one missing component by subtraction.
Different questions need different views.
Use the main chart to compare total sugar. Use an individual fruit page to inspect the sugar components. Use the calculator when you want to understand a particular edible portion.
